They were Beautiful

Flying at over one mile per hour, they finally broke through a blackberry bush and came into a clearing. The ground was covered in ferns and long grass. Trees grew beside a huge pond, and the water was still and reflected the moon.

They flew along the pond's shore. And there above them, among the trees and bushes, sparkling green lights flashed on and off.

  Fireflies.

Fireflies floated everywhere. Sometimes they came so close that Dinn could see their faces. One firefly nodded at him as it passed.

They were beautiful —— the most magical things Dinn had ever seen.
